This year the Cliff Frazier Memorial Youth Fly Fishing Program will be held on August 22-24 and is designed to provide the basic fly fishing skills for youth aged 9 to 14. It covers all aspects of our sport including: trout anatomy, what they eat, how to approach them, rigging a fly rod, casting, fishing techniques, proper etiquette, fly tying and how to handle and release a fish safely.
It is a two and half day program. The first half day (pm) is classroom instruction and fly casting lessons. The second two days include some classroom instruction and, guided fishing on the Truckee River, one on one, with an experienced instructor. The two and half day program will be hosted by the San Francisco Fly Casting Club on the Truckee river.
